Ainsworth

Ainsworth was platted in 1883 when the railroad was extended to that point.  It was named for James E. Ainsworth, a railroad engineer who was instrumental in building the railroad through Brown County.  The village was incorporated in December of 1883, the same year Ainsworth State Bank was chartered.   The bank’s name later changed to National Bank of Ainsworth, then to First National Bank of Ainsworth. The bank merged with Homestead Bank in 2021.
